Eloise's First Birthday // Meet My Family

Well hello there.

I feel like I must start this off by saying that this is my very first blog post ever and I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't often read other blogs so I have no idea if there is a 'proper format' to this? Or am I way off in thinking that? I don't know, but I'm going to keep this true to my personality and my style and I'm going to make things up as I go. Okay? Okay!

I've had these photos of Eloise's first birthday just hanging around on my computer, dying for a place to be shared. What better place than a blog? You don't often see my family either, so this is also the perfect place for me to introduce everyone! So sit back, relax, and enjoy browsing through these photos, meeting my family, and reading all about Eloise's first birthday party.

First, the details. I searched high and low months in advance for the perfect accessories for Eloise's special day. I spend hours dreaming and planning of what her party would look like. The funny thing is, though, she doesn't care at all. But this will likely be the only birthday party that I can have full control over, and I wanted to take advantage of that!

We went with a wildflower theme, because, well, she's my little wildflower! The flowy pink dress I found on patpat.com, the pink ballerina sandals were from Old Navy, and the flower crown was handmade by a local shop. The majority of our decor was from Dollarama, believe it or not! All the fake flowers came from there, the cake stand, and a few other pieces. I handmade the photo booth backdrop with items from the Thrift Store, used tulle from our wedding to make her high chair piece, and ordered a few balloons for the finishing touch. Everything came together so beautifully!

We hosted the party in our very own backyard. We prayed for good weather and we were blessed to have had it! Our house is so small that we wouldn't have been able to move everyone inside, so everything worked out perfectly. Zach and I were running behind in setting everything up, so as family arrived, so did the help. I'm thankful for all the helping hands we had throughout the evening! We couldn't have done it without you!

We started off the evening with a good ol' barbecue. Eloise was grinning from ear to ear and goofing off with all the attention she was receiving! After the barbecue we took a moment to grab a few photos while Eloise was still in her pretty birthday dress. That photo booth came in handy! Next we moved on to cake ... which Eloise DESTROYED! She was so gentle with her cake smash photoshoot, but this cake didn't stand a chance! After dessert was enjoyed and Eloise had had a bath, we began opening her gifts. She had so much fun playing with her favourite people and her new toys!

And now to introduce you to some of the most important people in my life!

First off, my mom and dad. These are the people who raised me and I love watching them love on Eloise, their first granddaughter. Eloise gets so happy when she sees them!

Next, my siblings. There are 4 of us in total, but Liam, my oldest little brother (if that makes sense?) had to work. The 2 pictured here are my youngest siblings, Eli and Reanna.

My Grandma and Grandpa Wiebe, AKA my dad's parents. We saw them so much growing up and they have had a huge impact on my life!

My Grandma and Grandpa Froese - my mom's parents. We don't see them as often so we were happy that they were able to come celebrate with us!

Moving on to Zach's side of the family. These are his parents, my mother and father in law. I'm so thankful for them and the way they've accepted me into their family. They are such a big help with Eloise and she clearly loves them very much!

Ethan and Kayla, Zach's oldest sister and brother in law. They live right across the street from us and often pop by for a visit and shower Eloise with lots of love!

Karlie, Zach's younger sister. She's such a sweetheart and is also obsessed with our little princess. Eloise has the best aunts and uncles!

Zach's Grandma and Grandpa Hamm. Two of the sweetest souls you'll ever meet, and so proud to show off their first great granddaughter!

And that pretty much sums it up! Thanks for sticking around until the end.

Until next time!
